Have you ever experienced a moment so perfect, that you wanted to laugh, smile, and cry, all at the same time? I can’t remember a day when all of those things happened more often, many times within minutes of each other. The emotions ran high with this one, folks. Normally, juggling all the logistics of a wedding day can be challenging, from guest lists and seating arrangements, to timelines, flowers, favors, and everything in between. Worth it, but challenging. Now add in the craziness of 2020, the year of Covid-19, which brings massive changes to the guest list, seating arrangements, travel, safety precautions, and a bunch of other limitations, and all of a sudden, the stress level goes to 11. But sometimes, when things seem the bleakest, the light that shines through the darkness seems that much brighter. There were so many moments of beauty in this wedding day. Not only because Kam and Amber are amazing and so perfect for each other, but more so because of the stark contrast to what the rest of 2020 has been like. Those few precious breaths of fresh air we can find amidst all this craziness are so treasured. And I thank Amber and Kam for reminding me that even in the worst of times, we can still find beautiful perfection. Their love is gentle, their love is kind, it does not boast, but it doesn’t need to. Because just being in a room together, you can feel it. Some people say a marriage should be 50/50. But they’re wrong. At least not the good ones. The good ones are 100/100. When each person aims to give 100% to their spouse, that is good marriage math. Everyone who knows Kam and Amber knows how giving they are. They have two of the biggest servant hearts I have ever seen, and in an ever increasingly selfish society, these two are a breath of fresh air. And in 2020, we all need that more than ever.
Kam and Amber chose the Springside Barn in Lancaster to host their wedding, and as soon as we drove onto the property we could easily see why they chose this place. It’s simply gorgeous!! From the sprawling fields and pond with a fountain, to the cute white chapel and reception barn decked out in twinkle lights, there were so many great spots for pictures! Kam and Amber, along with their families, put so much work into this wedding and it certainly paid off! This was actually the 4th wedding in 14 months for Kam’s immediate family, as he was the last of his siblings to get married this year! Talk about a whirlwind of weddings! But I loved how Kam and Amber were able to make their wedding special and unique to their personalities. It was such a joy to photograph this wedding, especially after having known Kam’s family for so many years, and seeing how close these two families are. It was so hard to pick favorites to share for this blog post, there were so many, but I hope you enjoy this glimpse of Kam and Amber’s wonderful wedding!
This bride runs on Dunkin’ :)
Once Amber was all dressed and ready, she took a moment to read a letter from her Dad right before walking outside for her Daddy/Daughter First Look, which was so sweet. As a mom of daughters myself, this was the first of many times I got choked up during this emotional day.
It wouldn’t be a true barn wedding on a farm if the guys didn’t wear cowboy boots and jeans, but they still looked quite classy. Nicely done, guys. :)
As if there weren’t already enough reasons for me to love this wedding, the color palette of the day was just beautiful, especially the dusty slate blue, which is basically my main brand color! It was simply perfect, in combo with the burgundy and blush pink, so pretty!
One of my favorite parts of the wedding day was Kam and Amber’s First Look, where they were able to have a few quiet moments together before the ceremony, and Kam could take in the beauty of his bride for the first time without a whole crowd watching his reaction. There were tears, there was laughter, and it was perfect.
One of the other great things about doing a First Look is that it allows for a lot more portrait time, especially if there isn’t a ton of daylight left by the end of the ceremony. Amber and Kam did such a great job planning a timeline that allowed for plenty of time for pictures before the ceremony, which made for a much more relaxed day all around because we didn’t feel like we were rushing around trying to make sure we squeezed in all their necessary portraits right before sunset. And it also helped that I think these two remembered every tip we taught them at their engagement session, because they were like complete naturals in front of the camera on their wedding day. :)
Right before the ceremony, Kam and Amber found a quiet spot to read letters they wrote to each other. In true adorable fashion, they played rock/paper/scissors to decide who read their letter first. It was hilarious, these two were so in sync, that they picked the same thing multiple times before one of them finally won. And then they spent some time in prayer with their bridesmaids, groomsmen, and pastor Jeremiah.
Ceremony time! I love how they had 1 Corinthians 13 on display all along the aisle of the chapel.
After the ceremony, we still had a bit of time for a few family formals and some more portraits before sunset. It was actually an unseasonably warm day, but just in case of cold weather, Amber had gotten all her girls these adorable scarves in the wedding colors, which were so cute and cozy! And speaking of cute, how sweet and fun are these flower girls?!
Amber was simply stunning! I kept hearing comments about how amazing her dress was, and I love that she included some very personal touches, like wearing her late grandma’s pearl necklace, a super sweet way to remember her grandma.
Such a beautiful barn reception, especially with the white draped fabric, softening the rustic wood barn and twinkle lights strewn everywhere. The favors were cute little bags of coffee with tags that read, “Kam & Amber: A Perfect Blend” - the perfect treat from a coffee loving couple. :)
Just one more example of how generous this couple is, they wanted to share some of the spotlight during their reception with their one flower girl who just happened to be turning 7 on their wedding day. So they took some time during their reception to present her with a little unicorn cupcake and have all the guests sing Happy Birthday to her. What a sweet way to make her feel special on her birthday, even though she had to share it with their wedding day.
Kam and Amber, Matt and I are so honored that you chose us to document your special day and we wish you all the best in your new life together!!
