When I first started chatting with Jackie and Alex about their wedding, they told me a little bit about their love story and how they met while in college, hung out in similar friend circles while in school, but didn’t end up dating until they reconnected at a picnic 9 years later. I couldn’t help but chuckle, since that’s very similar to my own story with Matt. We met while we were both in college, at different schools, and remained friends for about 8 years before we started dating and then got married the following year. I always enjoy hearing stories of how people find each other and end up dating, sometimes years after they initially met.
So Jackie and Alex have been together since early 2020, and have been unofficially planning their wedding since spring of this year, because even though they knew they were going to get married, the official proposal hadn’t happened yet. And then on a Saturday in May of this year, Jackie had a bridal gown appointment scheduled for that afternoon, and had jokingly told Alex that was his deadline to propose (with really, no pressure). Her best friend travelled here from Allentown Saturday morning to go dress shopping, and she was able to get here early enough that they could tour the venue (The Mill at Manor Falls) in the morning, to show her the space and get ideas flowing. Since Alex hadn't proposed yet, Jackie had accepted that she wouldn't have the ring for dress shopping. Well, after they walked with Jackie’s friend, Amanda, back to the waterfall (one of the amazing spots at The Mill), Amanda offered to take their picture, and Jackie, completely oblivious, gladly accepted. After Amanda took their picture, Alex got down on one knee, told Jackie to come over, and started his wonderful speech with something along the lines of doing things backwards and getting engaged at their venue. Jackie was completely shocked and in tears, and Amanda captured the entire thing! :)
So for Alex and Jackie’s engagement session, they wanted to do pictures at The Mill at Manor Falls, where they will also be getting married this fall, as well as a few pictures on the campus of Millersville U, where they met. Despite the heat and humidity, it was a super fun session, and it was great getting to hear some stories of their time at Millersville U, including the crazy wildlife on campus!
Congrats on your engagement Jackie and Alex, and I can’t wait to help you celebrate your big day in November!
