There are sometimes when you look at a couple and you can just tell, without even knowing them, without having met them before, how unbelievably in love they are. Sage and Dom fit that to a T. They have known each other for almost a decade, have been dating for the past 8 years, and they couldn’t be more comfortable with each other. I loved capturing those little moments where it seems like they almost forgot that the camera was there and they were just laughing together. With how comfortable they are with each other, you would probably never imagine how their engagement story went down. It is one of the cutest engagement stories I’ve heard, and not because of some flashy, well, flash mob, or a moonlit stroll down the beach, or anything like that. It is amazing because of how much love and truth there is in the story. Dom got the ring and was so unbelievably excited and nervous that he couldn’t wait for the big story moment. He had to get that ring on her finger!
There are times in life when we know what is coming next. When it just seems so painfully obvious to everyone exactly what is going to happen. But when you think of asking someone to be yours for the rest of your life, even being sure doesn’t stop the nerves. Dom almost started asking Sage about 6 times within about ten minutes, but then kept thinking, “I should wait until I do something big. No, I should ask her now. No, let’s do a huge planned thing. But I really want her to say yes now. Maybe a trip somewhere…… “
“No, how about now.”
Finally Sage, seeing him come downstairs and go back up so many times, and seeing how sweaty and confused he seemed to be, thought he might be getting sick. And that’s when he realized that this girl was too good to wait for, so while a big story might sound fun to tell, being engaged, having this woman as his bride-to-be was worth too much to wait even a day, even a moment more. He asked her right there, sweaty palms, no fanfare. Just a guy so desperately in love that he couldn’t wait a moment longer.
And I love it!
For Sage and Dom’s engagement session, they wanted somewhere woodsy, so Overlook Park in Lancaster seemed like the perfect place, especially because it’s somewhere they love going with their 2 sweet fur babies. While Romeo, the older of their two dogs wasn’t up for a photoshoot, the younger and spunkier Sebastian was eager to be included! And he did a great job, sporting his “Dad Asked & Mom Said Yes” bandanna :)
It was such a beautiful evening for their engagement session! I’m so happy to be able to capture these images for them, and I can’t wait for their wedding next Summer! Check out some of my favorites from their session!
