For Cole and Kelly's wedding we traveled up to the Creekside Barn in Potter county (well, technically it was Tioga County, but basically a stone’s throw from Potter County). It was a bit of a drive, but the area was amazingly beautiful. The funny thing about this area is that it can have all four seasons within a few hours. The day before the ceremony it was snowing, and then the temperature rose enough that the snow changed to rain and the grass started to become a muddy mess, and then it warmed up some more and dried the grass completely. On the day of Cole and Kelly's wedding the sun came out and stayed out all day. The temperature was great, and it didn't rain or snow at all. I find that life can be a lot like the weather in Potter county. One moment everything is great, the next it might be super frustrating, and then in the next instant something might happen to remind you of how great it was a few moments before. Unlike the weather, which is controlled by outside circumstances that we can't control, how life feels to us is mostly a matter of perspective. It is truly amazing when the weather, the day, circumstances, and your mindset are all saying the same thing, and on Cole and Kelly’s wedding day everything was saying the same thing... today is perfect. I am so happy Cole and Kelly got such a perfect day for their wedding, but I'm even more happy that they have found each other, so that whatever the weather, or the circumstances, they can help each other to have the perspective that each day will be a great day, and they get to experience it all together.
I resisted the urge to mention the hunting and fishing grounds up until this point because too many puns can be a bad thing... but I can't resist just one as fishing season literally started the weekend of their wedding. Cole and Kelly, you guys have each caught a good one. ;)
While the girls were getting ready, Cole and his groomsmen spent the morning fishing in the creek that runs along the back of the venue. I was getting ready to do pictures of Kelly’s details and bridal portraits, meanwhile Matt was grabbing these pictures of Cole and his guys in their element. When we say every wedding is unique, it’s very true…this was definitely the first time groomsmen pictures included fishing before the ceremony.
Once everyone was all cleaned up, we photographed Cole and Kelly’s First Look along with their private vow reading, which was so sweet.
Cole and Kelly had their ceremony right in front of Pine Creek, which runs along the back of the venue property, which was so pretty!
Cole and Kelly, thanks for having us document your super fun wedding day! We had a great time hanging out with your friends and family and helping you celebrate! We wish you all the best!
