My favorite thing about marriage is how weird the wedding contract is…
Most contracts have two different parties who need to fulfill every aspect of the contract or else it is null and void. But in the marriage covenant, each spouse makes a vow. Each spouse says, For better or worse, for richer or poorer. Each spouse is entering into a completely separate contract. One that says, I don’t care what you do, “I do”, for better or worse. There is a paradoxical nature to marriage, where each partner is signing up to give 100% no matter what the other does. And ideally, you have two people who are charging towards each other with all their strength at all times, so that it’s impossible to ever separate them.
I could go on and on about how beautiful the Westminster Presbyterian Church is, with its white walls and huge windows and balcony surround. Or I could talk about how great the reception was at Stoner Commons, and how amazing the food was (seriously, one of the best wedding reception meals I’ve ever had). I could even talk about how much fun it was hanging out with Nate and Carol’s friends and families for the day… Instead let’s talk about the reason for the celebration; Nate and Carol.
For those of you who don’t know, Nate and Carol are the type of people that friends will fly across the entire continent for the chance to share in their joy. They are the type of people that, ten words with their friends and family will tell you how much of an impact they have on those around them. But the best part is, they are people that make each other better. A spouse that makes you a better person, is a true gift. I’m so happy that Nate and Carol have found each other, and are committing to be each other’s lifelong adventure companion. A companion to always charge towards, and together, to enjoy the beauty of life.
Thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your special day. It was such a joy to meet your families and friends and spend the day celebrating with y’all! We enjoyed every minute of your gorgeous wedding day, and we wish you all the best in this new adventure!
