There are a ton of movies where two people who are destined to be together, who are, in fact, perfect for each other, keep passing within inches and never meeting. Lucas and Anoosha probably should have met many times. After all, his friend was dating her friend. But, they never did. Their social circles had collided, but they had not. At least, not until both of them were invited to their friends’ wedding. I wasn’t there, but I imagine just like in the movies, the orchestra swelled upwards into the major chords, and any woman watching started tearing up, because they just….. know.
I have no idea how that first meeting went at their friends’ wedding, but I do know that it led them here, to where they are now. Together.
Last weekend I had the privilege of being able to do a small courthouse wedding session with this sweet couple who couldn’t do the big traditional wedding right now. And don’t get me wrong, I love documenting an entire wedding day, from start to finish, but a typical wedding day can easily last 10-12 hours, complete with getting ready pictures, documenting the ceremony surrounded by friends and family, portraits with the whole bridal party, coverage of the whole reception party, and capturing all the beautiful details throughout the day. I know it’s not most couple’s first choice to do a small intimate ceremony, but I do get excited when I get asked to do these small wedding sessions, even if it’s just to do bride & groom portraits and some family formals after a simple courthouse ceremony. I like knowing that they will have these beautiful images to help them share the celebration with those who couldn’t come, and remember their wedding, no matter how small it was.
It was so great getting to meet Lucas and Anoosha after their small ceremony, and even though Anoosha’s family from Iran wasn’t able to be there, I loved that they could still include Lucas’s family for some pictures. This sweet couple recently moved to Lititz, so I thought it would be perfect to help them get to know their new town a little better by taking pictures at the beautiful gardens at the Lititz Historical Foundation. We had the perfect golden hour lighting for their gorgeous portraits, and they were so much fun to work with!
I’m so happy for these two as they start this new journey of married life together and I wish them all the best. So for all you single people out there, if someone invites you to a wedding, take Lucas and Anoosha’s advice and go. You never know, you might meet your future spouse.
