A month ago I had the opportunity to attend a photography business conference in Richmond, Virginia. The conference itself was amazing, but on top of that I got to participate in a MASSIVE styled wedding shoot at Mount Ida Farm in Charlottesville, Virginia, which is about an hour from Richmond.

If you don’t know what a styled wedding shoot is, let me explain. It’s when a group of vendors gets together and creates a mock wedding. There is typically a certain style or vision for the shoot that gets carried out. The vendors get to exhibit their creativity, and photographers get to practice capturing beautiful wedding images. And these shoots can also provide inspiration for brides looking for fun, unique wedding ideas!

The style of this wedding shoot was “1950’s Vintage” which incorporated a bunch of heirlooms and classic details. But one of my favorite parts of this shoot was working with Deirdre and Sean, a REAL LIFE couple! So while all the beautiful details were styled for a faux wedding, the emotion between these two was genuine! And fun fact, the sidecar motorcycle that we used in this shoot is actually Sean’s bike that he used to pick Deirdre up for their first date! How cool is that?!
